There were mixed emotions on the first President's Day at Shard End when Old Salts 1sts lost to a lively Edwardian side.

President's day at Shard End went well despite a disappointing end to the First XV league campaign for 2018-19. Old Salts lost to a lively Edwardian side. Salts ended on 83 points and had the better points difference but Burntwood won one more game and so were promoted. Ironically Burntwood won the final league game against Wednesbury - you may recall Wednesbury held Salts to a 10-10 draw back in January. Salts 2nd XV played City Officials, who stepped in at the last moment following a cancellation.
The boys were not deflated for too long and happily neither was "The Rootless Pub" - a remarkable inflatable pub erected for President's Day. The excellent service and good beer certainly helped make it a memorable one.
As ever it was wonderful to meet up with old members and friends of the club and the buffet prepared by Karen and Judy was much appreciated. The temporary grounds and facilities were in fine condition and a testament to the club's indomitable spirit.
Old Salts 1st XV next game is in the final of the NMRFU Plate competition at Dudley Kingswinford on Sunday May 12th. Salts will play Veseyans who have just been relegated into our league - now that promises to be an interesting game! Hope to see you there!
