Obituary - John Court

20th February 1941   -   18th July 2025

With great sadness we announce the death of one of the great stalwarts of the club, John Court who passed away on Friday 18th July 2025 after a long illness.

John was a highly respected member of the club and a formidable player on the field, renowned for his strength and speed as a prop. Whether playing for the first XV in the early sixties and later as a player, then captain of a renowned third team, John’s sharp wit and engaging personality enabled him to be such an outstanding leader and team mate. 

Together with his wife Margaret, he was a great supporter of the social life of Old Salts, whether for events at the club, on the annual Twickenham trip and at Bala, where John was a regular and recognizable presence amongst teammates and local people alike.  

A proud family man, John, Margaret and their children (Jennifer and John Jr) were a consistent presence at the Old Salts family events at Bala and Trevayne. 

John’s funeral service will be held at Sutton Crematorium, Tamworth Road, Sutton at 1045 hours on Tuesday, 26th August followed by a reception at Moor Hall Golf Club.
