Obituary - Will Garnett

Sad news to report - Will Garnett died on June 15th this year, ironically his sixty first birthday was the day before. Will came to play for the Salts via his uncle, Tim Legge, and soon established a rapport with the Phil Brugger generation of Old Salts in the late Seventies, early Eighties. As a Prop Forward he probably played with more vigour than skill but socially was an essential element of wider off field activities including a very frequent and lively Easter tourist! He disappeared to start his forty-year career at the BBC but very much stayed in touch. His recording skills were an essential element of the eighties/nineties Club Cabaret Nights and he rarely ever missed the annual Old Salts summer training weekend (!) in Bala. In fact, he died on this year’s Bala weekend, fittingly amongst those very Old Salts mates he’d stayed so close to. Will’s humour, friendship and loyalty will be sadly missed by all those he held so dear.

Funeral arrangements: 11.30am on Saturday the 19th July at the City of London Crematorium. E12 5DQ
